Biography
Engr. Dr. Abdullahi Hussaini is a highly accomplished engineer, environmental management expert, disaster risk specialist, and public sector administrator with over 25 years of professional experience spanning engineering, climate change, safety management, environmental sustainability, disaster management, and organizational leadership. He currently serves as Assistant General Manager and Head of Mechanical and Safety at the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet).
Dr. Hussaini possesses a strong multidisciplinary academic background with advanced qualifications across engineering, environmental sciences, disaster management, development studies, and business administration. He earned a PhD in Disaster Management from Ahmadu Bello University in 2022 and is currently pursuing a second PhD in Environmental Resource Management at the University of Abuja.
In addition to his doctoral qualifications, he holds multiple Master's degrees in Energy Management, Climate Change and Natural Resources Management, Development Studies, Environmental Management, Environmental Impact Assessment, and Business Administration from Kaduna State University, Bayero University, and Ahmadu Bello University.
A registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), Dr. Hussaini has demonstrated exceptional expertise in mechanical engineering, energy systems, environmental planning, occupational safety, climate adaptation, and disaster risk reduction. His work at NiMet has been instrumental in meteorological modernisation, aviation safety systems, and early warning infrastructure for climate resilience.
An accomplished researcher and author, he has published books, journal articles, and technical papers on environmental sustainability, airport environmental management, flood early warning systems, and engineering systems. His international exposure includes technical training in France and specialised programmes supported by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Beyond his professional responsibilities, Engr. Dr. Hussaini is actively involved in engineering associations, technical committees, mentorship programmes, and community development initiatives within Kaduna State. He is widely respected for his dedication to technical innovation, leadership, and sustainable development.
